Expert Tips To Troubleshoot Your Air Conditioning

by TRS Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Monday, September 28, 2020 8:22 AM

If you have air conditioning in Coffs Harbour, you need to be doing regular maintenance to ensure that it’s always working like it should.

Your cooling system has many benefits, including making your home comfortable during the heat of the summer and preventing heat related health problems.

However, sometimes you’ll encounter an issue that needs to be addressed.

When that happens, you need TRS Air Conditioning & Refrigeration.

Check out some of our troubleshooting tips below.

Check The Air Filter

One of the most important things you can do for your air conditioner is to check the filter on a regular basis.

During the summer when it’s being used every day, this may need to happen every couple of weeks.

A dirty air filter will interfere with proper cooling so it’s vital to check and clean or replace it according to the manufacturer directions.

Adjust The Thermostat

If you don’t have your thermostat set at the ideal temperature, your air conditioner won’t come on or it could be sending warm air through the vents instead of cool air.

Make sure the thermostat is set to the cooling function, not the heating function.

This is especially important to remember as winter ends and summer begins. You can then adjust the temperature until you find the ideal setting for your comfort levels.

Clean The Outdoor Unit

The outdoor portion of the air conditioner was designed to withstand heat and weather outside your home, but you still need to keep it clean and well maintained for proper functioning.

Keep the unit clear of debris and wash any visible dirt from it regularly. If your condenser is dirty, you may need us to do a professional cleaning job.

This ensures that you are getting cool air from your system and that proper air circulation can occur.

Make Sure Vents Are Open And Working

If you have blocked air vents, you may be dealing with a range of issues, including water leaks, frozen coils, a damaged compressor, and other problems that are inconvenient and can be expensive to repair.

Make sure all air conditioner vents are open and they aren’t blocked.

Use caution when closing vents in certain rooms as this can increase energy bills and cause problems in the ducts.
